02/07/2015  4:00 PM  1st Annual SWFL Parrot Head Club "Tropic Style" Polar Plunge

The SWFL Parrot Heads invite you to participate in the 1st Annual SWFL Parrot Head "Tropic Style" Polar Plunge Challenge! On February 7th, 2015, we will all gather at Bowditch Point Park on Ft Myers Beach at 4pm. All nominated SWFL Parrot Heads who have accepted the challenge will take a dip in the *icy* waters of the Gulf of Mexico to benefit the Golisano Children's Hospital of Southwest Florida.

The new Golisano Children's Hospital of Southwest Florida will be a dream come true for every parent and child who lives in Lee, Collier, Charlotte, Glades and Hendry Counties. This new state-of-the-art facility is the first and only hospital in Southwest Florida dedicated solely to the health and wellness of our kids, delivering the highest quality care, right here, close to home. Plus, family-friendly patient rooms and kid-sized equipment provide the extra comfort and privacy that helps kids heal while families bond--and there's nothing more powerful that that.

Now, I know what you're thinking......how the heck can you have a Polar Plunge in SW Florida when the water is a balmy 66 degrees? So, we've decided to kick it up a notch and do it "Tropic Style". The spectators will get to turn each of the the participants into a "polar bear" by covering them with flour. Then the plunger dons a pair of inflatable elf shoes and navigates through an obstacle course to a hula hoop where they will do the 'Dizzy Bat' and then they will run, stagger and stumble their way into the Gulf to take their plunge and try not to drown. The hilarity will be epic!!

So pick your favorite SWFL Parrot Head and challenge them to take the plunge! If they accept the challenge and complete the Plunge, you make your donation. And for those who do not (or cannot) accept the challenge? We've got that covered, too! Rick Treder and Elin Mastrangelo will either shame them into it or will pick up the slack and take the plunge on their behalf. So, be sure to make that donation and help make this an event to remember! It's for a great cause, and it will be a hoot to watch!
